Senior University Counsel for Health Affairs
Bill Young supports the Health Science Center and related entities in Jacksonville and Gainesville on a wide range of legal and regulatory matters, including: corporate governance, fraud and abuse laws, telemedicine, student and faculty affairs, privacy, licensure and scope of practice issues, patient consent, subpoenas, and third-party reimbursement pursuant to state and federal laws, such as Stark, Anti-Kickback Statute, HIPAA, HITECH, Medicare, Medicaid, and PPACA. Bill also provides training to management on laws and regulations pertaining to health affairs.
Prior to joining the University of Florida, Bill was corporate counsel at the University of Wisconsin Health providing counsel to the academic medical center and the faculty plan. Bill previously worked for a large law firm in Chicago, Illinois, as a litigator in the health care department. Bill graduated, with honors, from The John Marshall Law School. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Illinois State University. Bill is admitted to practice law in Florida and Illinois.
