Amy M. Hass
Interim Vice President and General Counsel
Amy currently serves as the Interim Vice President and General Counsel at the University of Florida. In this role, Amy oversees the legal affairs of the University and many of its affiliated entities and manages an office of 16 attorneys. In addition, Amy represents and advises the University on legal matters relating to governance, research and fiscal compliance, constitutional issues, student affairs, athletics, international activities, litigation and governmental audits and investigations. She also provides advice relating to public records and open meetings laws and works closely with university counsel throughout Florida on legislative and regulatory issues.
Prior to joining the Office of the Vice President and General Counsel in 2006, Amy was a litigator with Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP in Atlanta and New York. While in private practice, Amy represented financial services companies and individuals in a wide range of government enforcement proceedings, civil litigation, white collar criminal defense, arbitrations and internal corporate investigations.
Amy graduated, with honors, from the University of Florida Levin College of Law and received her undergraduate degree from Furman University. Amy is a member of The Florida Bar and the State Bar of Georgia and is admitted to practice in all state courts in Florida and Georgia. Amy is also admitted to practice in the Northern and Southern U.S. District Courts of Florida and the Northern U.S. District Court of Georgia. Amy has served on the Florida Bar’s Education Law Committee, the Editorial Board of the Journal of College and University Law and is a member of the Council on Governmental Relations.
