Amy M. Hass
Executive Associate Vice President and Deputy General Counsel
Amy manages the day-to-day operations of the General Counsel's office and oversees all litigation involving the University of Florida and its affiliated entities. In addition, Amy represents and advises the University on legal matters relating to research and fiscal compliance, student affairs, athletics, international activities, law enforcement and governmental audits and investigations. She also provides advice relating to public records and open meetings laws and works closely with university counsel throughout Florida on legislative and regulatory issues.
Prior to joining the Office of the Vice President and General Counsel in 2006, Amy was a litigator with Sutherland Asbill Brennan LLP in Atlanta and New York. While in private practice, Amy represented financial services companies and individuals in a wide range of government enforcement proceedings, civil litigation, white collar criminal defense, arbitrations and internal corporate investigations. She also advised clients on general corporate ethics, procedure and compliance.
Amy graduated, with honors, from the University of Florida Levin College of Law and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Furman University. Amy is a member of The Florida Bar and the State Bar of Georgia and is admitted to practice in all state courts in Florida and Georgia. Amy is also admitted to practice in the Northern and Southern U.S. District Courts of Florida and the Northern U.S. District Court of Georgia. Amy is a member of the Florida Bar’s Education Law Committee and serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of College and University Law.
